Popular routes
Peru: Lima, Cusco and Machu Picchu
Claro, Movistar and Entel cover Lima and Cusco well. Aguas Calientes has signal, but the Inca Trail itself has very little, so download your tickets and maps in advance.
Argentina and Chile: Patagonia and wine country
Buenos Aires, Mendoza and Santiago have strong 4G. El Chaltén and Torres del Paine have limited coverage outside town. The LATAM eSIM covers both sides of the border on one plan.
Brazil: Rio, São Paulo and Iguazu Falls
Vivo, Claro and TIM give wide coverage. Crossing to the Argentine side of Iguazu? Your LATAM eSIM switches to Movistar or Claro Argentina.
Colombia and Ecuador
Cartagena, Medellín and Quito are well covered. Colombia is the cheapest country eSIM in the region, from $5.95.
Central America add-ons
LATAM also covers Mexico, Costa Rica and El Salvador. Starting in the USA or Canada? The Americas + US + CA eSIM covers those too, with 20GB for 60 days at $127.17. See all long trip plans. Flying via Europe? Add the UK Local eSIM with UK Number.
Not in the LATAM eSIM
Bolivia, Paraguay, Venezuela, Guyana and Suriname are not part of the LATAM plan. Paraguay, Guyana and Suriname are available as country eSIMs. For Bolivia, search your destination before you buy.
How much data do you need?
Maps, Uber, bus apps and WhatsApp: about 150 to 300MB per day
Social media and photos: about 500MB to 1GB per day
Rule of thumb: two weeks 5GB to 10GB, a month of backpacking 20GB, remote work unlimited.
