Why Your Next Trip Should Be eSIM-Only 2026: No Plastic, No Hassle, No Roaming
Every year, over 4.5 billion plastic SIM cards are manufactured worldwide — that's more than 20,000 tons of plastic and packaging waste entering circulation annually. For something so small, SIM cards leave a surprisingly large footprint.
Travelers are already making changes — reusable bottles, tote bags, skipping plastic straws. But SIM cards are almost always overlooked. Every time you land in a new country and buy a local SIM, you're adding another piece of plastic to the pile. eSIM changes that entirely.
Every AloOui eSIM you buy = one less plastic SIM card manufactured.

The Hidden Plastic Problem in Travel
Traditional SIM cards come with plastic casings, packaging, and instruction leaflets. Once you switch countries or plans, these tiny pieces of plastic are tossed away. Multiply that by billions of travelers and you have a massive, invisible waste problem that nobody talks about.
By eliminating the need for physical cards, eSIM offers a travel connectivity solution that aligns with global sustainability goals — and saves you money at the same time.

The Global Push Toward Less Plastic
The EU Single-Use Plastics Directive bans straws and cutlery. The UN Environment Programme pushes global action against unnecessary plastic. Airlines are pledging to eliminate single-use plastics on flights.
Switching to eSIM is your personal contribution to this global movement. Small decision, real impact.
