Ethiopia eSIM

What's the best Ethiopia eSIM for your trip?

AloOui Ethiopia eSIM starts at $26.09 USD for Unlimited Lite/1 day, with 1GB of high-speed data then up to 512 kbps for the rest of that day; fixed data starts at $38.11 for 1GB total over 7 days, alongside Unlimited Essential and Plus options for heavier daily use.

Keep Addis Ababa accommodation details handy, check meeting addresses or message your guide where supported service is available. Your QR code is delivered by email after purchase.

Quick plan summary

• Coverage: Ethiopia only, not Kenya or other neighbouring countries.
• Fixed data: 1GB/7 days, 2GB/15 days or 3GB, 5GB, 10GB or 20GB/30 days. Each is a total allowance, not a daily amount.
• Unlimited Lite and Essential: 1, 3, 5, 7, 10 or 15 days.
• Unlimited Plus: 1, 3, 5, 7 or 10 days. No Premium option is selectable; Plus is not Premium.
• Network: Ethiotel, up to 4G where available. The provider list does not establish Safaricom or 5G access.
• Data only: no Ethiopian number, ordinary calls or SMS.
• Delivery and ID: QR code by email. No ID verification is required for the AloOui purchase; this does not waive local requirements.

Compare Ethiopia packages

Lite/1 day is the lowest-priced selection for a short stay, not a week-long package. Fixed data suits lighter maps, messages and bookings between Wi-Fi connections. For a week of daily use, Essential is the balanced option; Plus offers more high-speed data each day for heavier uploads or supported hotspot use. Compare 5GB/30 days at $138.36 with Essential/7 days at $208.06: fixed data has a smaller total allowance but longer validity. Match allowance, duration and total cost to your trip rather than assuming Unlimited is the cheapest choice.

Prices may change. Always check the product page for the latest prices before purchasing.

How daily Unlimited works

• Lite: 1GB/day high-speed, then up to 512 kbps.
• Essential: 1GB/day high-speed, then up to 1.25 Mbps.
• Plus: 2GB/day high-speed, then up to 2 Mbps.

Standard Ethiopia Unlimited options are Lite. Daily high-speed allowances refresh each day; reduced speeds apply for the rest of the day after that day's allowance is used. Unlimited does not mean unrestricted high-speed data. Fixed plans end when their total allowance or validity runs out, whichever comes first, without reduced-speed continuation. Actual speeds depend on connectivity and can be below policy limits. A larger allowance does not extend remote coverage.

Ethiopia coverage and network

Ethiotel is the only network in the current product provider list, supporting up to 4G where available. This listing does not establish Safaricom access or 5G for this eSIM. Confirm exact-option entitlement if needed. Connection and speeds depend on your purchased plan, device, terrain and local conditions; reception at every airport, address or route is not guaranteed.

City layovers, highland routes and remote trips

For a Bole airport layover, keep onward-flight and accommodation details offline before arrival. Beyond Addis Ababa, save maps, guide contacts and booking confirmations before leaving reliable coverage. The provider list does not confirm reception at individual sites around Lalibela, on Simien Mountains trails, in the Danakil Depression or in remote valleys.

Arrange appropriate backup communications for remote journeys rather than relying on mobile data for navigation or emergencies. Connectivity does not establish that a route is safe or accessible; check current official travel advice and local arrangements. Satellite service is not included. This product lists Ethiopia only; do not assume continuous data on cross-border routes.

Hotspot and keeping your existing number

Hotspot depends on the selected plan, device and network; confirm exact-option terms if sharing is essential. Shared usage counts toward the same total or daily high-speed allowance and speed limits. Large uploads, backups and streaming can use data quickly.

This eSIM has no Ethiopian number, ordinary calls or SMS. Internet-based messaging and calling depend on app availability and connectivity. If keeping your home SIM enabled on a compatible device, check its roaming charges, turn off its data roaming and avoid automatic data switching.

Compatibility, installation and activation

1. Check that your exact device model and regional version support eSIM and that the device is carrier-unlocked.
2. Install the emailed QR code over stable Wi-Fi through your cellular or SIM settings, following your order's instructions. Keep the QR private.
3. When ready in supported Ethiopia coverage, enable AloOui, select it for mobile data and turn on its data roaming as instructed.

Validity starts when the eSIM connects to a supported network in Ethiopia, not QR delivery or installation alone. Enabling the line within supported coverage can start the plan. Follow your purchased option's activation deadline, expiry and top-up instructions.

APN, connection help and 24/7 human support

1. Check AloOui is enabled, selected for mobile data and has data roaming on as instructed.
2. If an APN is required, enter data.esim with username and password blank, then save/select it. Some devices configure this automatically; follow your order if its settings differ.
3. After installation finishes, toggle airplane mode briefly or restart.
4. Start with automatic network selection. If needed, select Ethiotel as confirmed in your order or by support and move to a stronger-signal area when safe.
5. Check remaining data and validity. Keep the eSIM installed while troubleshooting.

Ask support before deleting the profile, changing devices or rescanning the QR code; do not assume transfer, reinstallation or QR reuse is supported.

AloOui provides 24/7 human customer support through the Help Center. Share your order number, exact device model, location and error privately.

Planning a wider trip?

AloOui's Africa and Africa Long Trip products do not include Ethiopia in their coverage lists. Do not substitute either based on the regional name. Use Shop with AI to find options for your itinerary and check every destination and selected plan before purchasing.
