Give each line a clear job

Check the exact phone and supported line arrangement

Use the exact model, regional version and carrier-unlocked status rather than assuming every iPhone, Samsung or Pixel supports the same arrangement. Your work line might be a physical SIM or an eSIM; the phone must support that line alongside the intended travel profile.

Stored-profile capacity and simultaneously active lines are different. Confirm the combination you need, including what happens to mobile data and the second line while taking a call. Do not assume that two enabled lines mean two simultaneous calls or unrestricted data during every call.

For an employer-managed phone, confirm that company settings allow the extra profile and intended data use. Do not delete a managed work profile or bypass device restrictions to install travel data.

Questions for your work carrier before departure

2. What are the charges for receiving or making calls, SMS and voicemail use?
3. Will the number be able to receive the verification messages your accounts require?

Prepare account access without relying only on SMS

Menu names differ by phone and software. Turning off work-line data roaming does not necessarily stop charges for its calls, texts, voicemail or other carrier services.

Run an arrival check before a meeting

2. Check that your work apps can sign in using the approved verification method.
3. If required, test work-number service under the carrier's actual terms.
4. Check hotspot use with the intended laptop if the selected product and device support it.

Choose meeting data realistically

Essential is the balanced option for ordinary phone use. Plus provides more daily high-speed data for heavier tasks, but Unlimited does not mean unrestricted high-speed use. Keep large transfers on an appropriate connection and have a fallback for important meetings.

Europe+ describes hotspot sharing where the device and network support it. The laptop and phone share one allowance; pause automatic downloads and cloud syncing, and use metered settings where supported.

Follow your employer's approved apps, account protection and VPN requirements. A mobile-data plan is not a substitute for company security controls or a blanket guarantee of secure browsing.

If data works but the work number does not

Treat this as a work-line issue rather than assuming the travel eSIM has failed. Check the line's enabled status, carrier availability and supported active-line arrangement.

For missing calls or verification texts, contact the work carrier or IT team as appropriate. Another data purchase will not automatically repair native-number service. Do not repeatedly erase profiles or reinstall work apps as a first response.

If work apps fail but other internet works

Check the app's sign-in requirements, approved security tools and any company device restrictions. Ask IT to help distinguish authentication, app access and corporate network requirements from a mobile-data problem.

Do not disable company security controls simply to make an app connect. Use the approved fallback arrangement for your meeting or account access.

If AloOui data does not work
