eSIM Not Activating? Fixes for iPhone, Samsung and Android

Get your travel connection working by checking the right stage first: installation, plan activation or mobile data. This guide covers iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel and other Android phones. Start with the checks below before buying another plan. Device capabilities, regional versions and provider rules differ, so follow the instructions for your exact phone and selected AloOui plan.

Installation versus connection: choose your next check

1. Confirm your exact device and carrier-lock status

Check the full model number, regional version and current manufacturer guidance. A phone family name alone does not establish eSIM support. Apple iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, Motorola, Xiaomi, OnePlus, OPPO, Sony and other brands can have different model and regional requirements.

Confirm that your device is carrier-unlocked with its original carrier. eSIM compatibility and carrier unlocking are separate checks. AloOui cannot bypass a carrier lock.

If Add eSIM is missing, check manufacturer guidance for the exact device and software rather than assuming a menu label proves the hardware is compatible. There is no universal Android version that makes every phone support eSIM.

2. Install using a stable connection

Use a reliable internet connection to download the profile. Complete any network sign-in required before starting. Do not assume every public connection is unsuitable or every accommodation connection is reliable.

Check supported software updates and keep required security protections in place. For managed devices, follow your employer's approved support process.

Follow the selected plan's activation rules before deciding when to install. Installation is not a guarantee of pre-arrival data, and a blanket instruction to install a fixed number of hours before departure may not fit every plan.

3. Use the setup path for your phone

Apple iPhone

On supported iPhones, look under Settings → Cellular or Mobile Data → Add eSIM. Use the provider's supplied QR-code or supported manual method. Menu names and available methods vary by software, region and provider.

Apple also documents carrier activation and transfer methods, but their availability does not establish that an AloOui travel profile can use them. Do not assume eSIM Quick Transfer moves every travel plan.

Samsung Galaxy

On supported Galaxy phones, the installation area is commonly under Settings → Connections → SIM manager or SIM card manager. Samsung's guide includes Add mobile plan and Add using QR code; other versions may show different labels. Follow your device prompts and supplied plan instructions.

Google Pixel

Google's current guide uses Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM → Set up an eSIM on supported devices. Follow the available prompts and provider instructions. Dual-SIM and active-profile capabilities depend on the exact device and carrier.

Other Android brands

For Motorola, Xiaomi, OnePlus, OPPO, Sony and others, use the manufacturer's instructions for the exact model and regional version. Do not apply a Samsung menu path as a universal Android procedure.

4. Check a QR-code error without bypassing it

Display the issued QR code clearly on another screen or print it where supported. Use a supplied manual installation method only if your delivery instructions provide one.

If the phone reports that a code is invalid, expired or already used, first check whether the profile already exists in SIM settings. Record the exact error and contact support if it is still missing.

Typing manual details is an alternative input method, not a way to bypass an invalid or already-used entitlement. Do not assume replacement codes, reinstallations or device transfers are available for every plan. Keep QR codes and activation credentials private.

5. Select the intended travel-data line

In your device's SIM or mobile-data settings, confirm that the installed travel line is enabled and selected for mobile data. Check that automatic data switching is not unexpectedly using another line.

Follow the delivered instructions for roaming on the travel line. Review roaming and switching settings on your home line separately to manage possible carrier charges. Menu locations vary; do not enable roaming blindly across every line.

If the plan is data-only, test a small webpage rather than using a native phone call as the only connection test. Native calls, SMS and a local number are separate inclusions.

6. Check destination, validity and allowance

Confirm that the current destination is included, the plan is within its selected validity and usable data remains. Signal bars or a visible profile do not establish every part of plan status.

Fixed data is a total allowance unless the selected plan says otherwise. Unlimited tiers can have full-speed allowances and reduced-speed terms. Check your exact product rather than importing another country's rules.

A profile cannot provide service outside its included coverage simply because more data remains. Do not assume crossing a border resets validity or allowance, or that renewals, top-ups and extensions are available.

7. Follow the supplied APN and network instructions

Compare the travel line's APN with your delivery instructions. Some reviewed AloOui products specify data.esim, but use the instructions for your selected plan rather than treating one setting as universal. Edit only the fields you are told to change.

Try Automatic network selection first. If instructed to select manually, use only a supported network named for the plan and location. If it is rejected or none is listed, return to Automatic and contact support.

Where appropriate, restart the phone or briefly toggle airplane mode to retry registration. Service still depends on supported network coverage, device and local conditions; more allowance cannot create missing signal.

Before a network reset or profile removal

Use official device guidance and understand the consequences before resetting settings. Reset behaviour differs by device and selected option. Do not choose an option that erases SIM profiles or other data without knowing what it does.

For an installed AloOui profile, ask support before deletion, repeated scanning or a reinstall. Recovery and transfer eligibility are plan-specific, not a universal promise.

What to send support

Use the AloOui Help Center with your order reference, exact phone model, software version, current destination, error wording and whether the profile appears in SIM settings. Share screenshots privately through the appropriate support channel, hiding unrelated personal information.

There is no guaranteed fix time in this guide. Support, replacement and refund outcomes depend on the actual order and applicable terms.
