Travel data versus the home line

Check the exact Galaxy before purchase

1. Find the full model number and regional version, not only a series name.
2. Confirm eSIM support for that exact model and current software.
3. Confirm the phone is carrier-unlocked and any organization restrictions allow another plan.
4. Check the available add-eSIM controls and supported active-line arrangement.

A broad generation list does not prove every carrier or regional version has identical capabilities. Stored profiles and simultaneously active lines are different limits.

Choose an allowance for your actual habits

For lighter use with accommodation Wi-Fi, the fixed Europe+ 5GB option is a practical starting point. Essential is the balanced recommendation for everyday maps, browsing and messages. Plus provides more daily high-speed allowance for heavier use.

Review recent usage rather than relying on a universal estimate. Video calls, streaming, photo uploads, backups and hotspot guests can use data quickly. Download suitable offline maps and save tickets before departure, and move larger transfers to suitable Wi-Fi.

For a longer included Europe trip, compare Essential / 15 days or Plus / 15 days. Select the duration explicitly instead of assuming a seven-day purchase lasts through the holiday.

Match the full itinerary

Check the destination, side trips and airport stopovers where you need data against the selected product list. A border crossing does not create a new allowance or restart validity.

For a route outside Europe+, use Explore Plans to find matching country or regional products. The three examples above are not worldwide plans.

Install on stable Wi-Fi

1. Keep the purchased email instructions accessible and connect the Galaxy to stable Wi-Fi.
2. Open Settings, Connections and SIM Manager where available. Names can vary by model, carrier and software.
3. Use the available Add eSIM or Add mobile plan option.
4. Scan the purchased QR code from another screen or use the supplied manual installation details when supported.
5. Follow the prompts and label the profile AloOui or Travel.
6. Keep the installed profile rather than deleting it if the connection is not ready.

Installation does not guarantee immediate service at every location. Do not assume the same QR code can be reused on another phone or that deleting a profile makes it reusable.

Installation and activation are separate

For AloOui travel eSIMs, installation alone does not start validity. Connection to a supported network in an included destination activates the plan. An included home or stopover location can start the use window early if the line is enabled and connects there.

Plan validity from first activation to final use, including periods on Wi-Fi. Switching off the line is not a reason to assume validity pauses or extends.

Select AloOui for mobile data

1. Enable AloOui when ready in supported coverage.
2. In SIM Manager, select AloOui for mobile data using the available controls.
3. Keep call and message defaults appropriate for any separate home-line service.
4. Enable the required data-roaming setting for the travel connection.
5. Keep home-line data roaming off and disable automatic data switching or fallback where supported.
6. Test a small page or message and confirm the intended data line is in use.

Software versions group settings differently. If only a shared roaming control is exposed, do not assume there is a separate switch for each line. Check the exact configuration before leaving a home line enabled abroad.

APN data.esim

Some Galaxy phones configure the APN automatically. If manual entry is required, enter data.esim, leave username and password blank, then save and select the APN.

Look for Access Point Names in the mobile-network settings where available, and ensure you are editing AloOui rather than the home connection. Follow the purchased plan's device-specific instructions if its settings differ. Ask support if the required controls are missing.

The APN is a network setting, not the QR installation code. It does not replace installation details on an Add eSIM screen.

Test after arrival

In included coverage, allow the phone to register with a supported network and test a small webpage, maps and your usual messaging app before starting a large transfer.

Performance varies by network, device, location, congestion and selected terms. A 5G symbol does not guarantee a particular speed or reception throughout rural roads, mountain areas or crowded terminals.

Hotspot on Galaxy

Where the phone, network and selected plan support sharing, enable hotspot with a strong password and test a nearby device. The phone and guests draw from the same total or daily allowance.

Pause guest backups and updates. Keep the phone powered and ventilated. A guest loses the connection if the host leaves or runs out of power. For an included data-heavy trip, Plus is the stronger starting point, but its stated high-speed allowance still applies.

Troubleshoot without deleting the profile

1. Check the actual country or territory is included.
2. Check remaining data and validity.
3. Check AloOui is enabled and selected for mobile data, not merely stored.
4. Check the required roaming setting and data-switching fallback.
5. If manual APN entry is needed, use data.esim, leave username and password blank, then save and select it for AloOui.
6. Try airplane mode, restart or a location with stronger reception. Try LTE/4G if 5G is unstable.
7. Start with automatic network selection; choose a supported partner manually only when instructed.
8. Keep the profile installed and contact the Help Center with your model, order number, location and error details.

If internet works but home-line calls or SMS do not, investigate that carrier service separately. Working travel data does not prove home-line roaming or verification-message delivery.

If data or validity runs out

Review the available options for the actual order rather than assuming automatic renewal, instant top-up or a reusable QR code. If another purchase is needed, match the route and timing and prepare installation while you have a suitable connection.
