eSIM Not Working? Fix It in 5 Minutes

Your eSIM is installed but you have no service, no data, or it won't activate. Here are the exact fixes that solve 95% of eSIM problems — in order of most common cause.

Fix 1 — eSIM is installed but showing no service

• Go to Settings → Cellular → your eSIM plan
• Make sure Turn On This Line is enabled
• Make sure Data Roaming is turned ON (required for international eSIMs)
• Set the eSIM as your Primary Data source
• Restart your phone

Fix 2 — eSIM not activating after scanning QR code

• Make sure you have a WiFi connection during activation
• Check that your QR code has not expired (most eSIMs must be activated within 30-90 days)
• Try manual activation — most providers including AloOui provide an activation code alongside the QR code
• Contact your eSIM provider for a replacement QR if the code shows as already used

Fix 3 — eSIM shows no internet connection

• Enable Data Roaming in your cellular settings — this is the most common cause
• Check your data balance has not run out
• Manually set APN: go to Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Network → APN and enter the APN provided by your eSIM provider
• Try toggling Airplane Mode on and off

Fix 4 — eSIM worked yesterday but stopped working today

• Your data plan may have expired or run out of data
• The network in your location may have changed — try toggling airplane mode
• Go to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset Network Settings (this fixes most persistent connection issues)

Fix 5 — eSIM disappeared from settings

eSIMs can occasionally disappear after a software update. Go to Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM. If the eSIM is gone, contact your provider — most can reissue the QR code.

Fix 6 — iPhone specific issues

• iOS 16 or earlier: Go to Settings → Cellular → Add Cellular Plan → use the QR code or enter the activation code manually
• Dual SIM conflict: Make sure your eSIM is selected as the default data line, not your home SIM
• After updating iOS: Sometimes iOS updates reset data roaming settings — re-enable data roaming for your eSIM

Fix 7 — Android specific issues

• Go to Settings → Connections → Mobile Networks → Data Roaming → enable it
